We’re entirely rethinking and redesigning the Node Links feature. This will improve the current way of creating links and bring many ways of customizing them in further releases.
Updated on Jan 14, 2025
User will be able to add multiple links between two nodes. There might be a multitude of ways two nodes could be connected, from family relations, to all the events they’ve been through together.
More information about this in this blog post.
A new interface component displaying a detailed view of the Nodes in a table format. This will allow the user to manage and modify their Nodes in a more efficient way. This will be particularly handy to manage tags, links, and more.
User will be able to group a series of Tags in a Collection. Collection can be exported or imported between Modules. This will be handy to share a set of Tags between multiple Modules from the same campaign, or to apply a consistent workflow using the same Tags across your Modules.
Left Toolbar of the Board’s interface will become collapsable and user will be able to toggle it with a button or a key shortcut. You can never have too much space for your Board!
User will be able to “slot” a Node inside a link. This would, in a way, allow a Node to become the link between two other Nodes.
The search feature will be improved to increase its reach and provide a detailed breakdown of results.
User will be able to set and freeze the Board’s position and zoom level for the shared version. Currently, the Shared Board uses the last saved position, which is not always ideal.
User will be able to create folders in their Lobby to better organize their Modules.
In addition to their regular structuring roles, root folders will bring specific features, such as the possibility of syncing Nodes between Modules from the same root folder. These folders are what can be used to define a “Campaign”, a “World” or any abstract grouping you need in your creative process.
While it is currently possible to duplicate any Token on the Board, it' still not possible to quickly duplicate a Node without doing it manually or using a Template. This feature will fill this gap and let users quickly duplicate Nodes.
An open source FoundryVTT add-on that can be used to import the content of Alkemion Studio Modules in Foundry. What form this content should take within Foundry is still to be determined (Journals may be the most obvious path).
User will be able to create any number of pages in the Editor, instead of the current unique page. Each page will feature its own Node Tree ordering.
User will be able to access their Library from the Lobby. This will allow any Library assets management, such as curating image bookmarks or creating a Random Table without the need for opening a Module.
User will be able to specify custom visual settings for any defined Tag. Assigning this Tag to a Node will apply these settings to its Tokens. User will still be able to manually override these settings on any Token.
User will be able to set custom icons as replacement of the default icons for any Node type. These settings will be saved with the Module so they can be included in Templates.
User will be able to switch the type of any Node.
User will be able to create custom Node Types in addition to the ones provided.
The Page Editor will allow user to select fonts from a curated selection.
User will be able to directly create new Nodes inline while editing the text from any Node in the Editor (in a similar way you can currently create inline Node mentions). This is part of an overall effort to let the user develop a Module while staying in the Editor as much as possible.
User will be able to toggle filters to hide or display Assets on the Board. Filters will include Node Types, Widget Types and Tags.
User will be able to synchronize Nodes between Modules and choose between multiple settings. This will be very useful to efficiently share Nodes between Modules.
NB: Yet to be confirmed but this feature may be reserved to Patreons.
Markdown Import will allow the user to create nodes from a markdown content. A set level of Headers could be used to identify Nodes, with the header being used as the name. This will be useful when a software like Obsidian is used as the source of content to create a Module.
User will be able to create dynamic “mentions” of a Random Table in the Editor. Like the existing Node Mention feature, but linking to Random Tables. For instance, the user could have a Random Mention displaying the result of a weather random table to directly display the random weather result in a Location Node.
User will be able to save the current Board’s position and zoom level as a bookmark. Views from these bookmarks can then be restored at any time. This can be useful to quickly navigate to specific sections of a complex Board.
The user will be able to log players actions on the fly for any given Node: “Player found Clue #3” or “Player killed NPC #2”. These specific notes will be easily available in the Board and the Editor.
As Obsidian is very popular in the TTRPG community, an open-source obsidian plugin would help integrate Alkemion Studio and Obsidian in a shared workflow, with import and export features.
Panning the Board on touch devices will be smoother and more natural.
